On the basis of spectroscopic CCD material obtained at the Haute Provence Observatory, we provide line identifications and equivalent width measurements in the wavelength region 4086-8780 Angstroms, of the spectrum of MWC 17. Four hundred emission features are identified and seventeen absorption features. Six interstellar bands could be identified. Some of the remaining absorption lines correspond to an early B type star. The emission lines of the envelope correspond approximately to a spectrum of an A0 type star. The star presents variations in the equivalent widths of its lines which correspond to a factor of about two over a time scale of days. Based on observations obtained at the Haute Provence Observatory (CNRS).
