Attention is given to spectrophotometry of B 272, an object catalogued as a quasar of redshift 0.036. It is found that B 272 is a luminous, isolated extragalactic H II region of the Sargent-Searle type. An abundance and temperature analysis indicates that the object is a hybrid between the high- and low-luminosity classes of these blue galaxies, as studied by French (1980). At least one other object in the Braccesi et al. (1970) QSO survey is also likely misclassified in the same manner: B 234 has quite similar properties. Apparently, caution must be used when interpreting results of QSO surveys which have not been followed up with modern spectrograms.
