The energy loss rate due to axion bremsstrahlung in dense stars such as white dwarfs or neutron stars is calculated by taking into account the ionic correlation effects accurately. It is found that the ionic correlation effects suppress the axion bremsstrahlung rate typically by a factor 2-50. The energy loss rate due to axion bremsstrahlung is found to be always smaller than the neutrino energy loss rate in the 12C white dwarf star matter where ρ > 106 g cm-3 and T > 107 K as long as the condition α = g2/4π < 1 x 10-27 is satisfied, although this is not claimed to be an observationally verified bound.
