We describe the X-ray Data Acquisition and Control System (XDACS) used together with the X-ray Detection System (XDS) to characterize the X-ray image during testing of the largest pair of AXAF-I mirrors. Features of the system include layered UNIX tools, real-time X-window displays and IRAF compatible parameter files. The system operation is illustrated by describing a mirror alignment test.
