An estimate is made of the relative velocity of the gas ejection from a cometary nucleus on the basis of the averaged equations for secular perturbations of the elements of the cometary orbit. The formulas obtained may be useful for the prediction of cometary orbits. It is shown that the components of the relative velocity of the gas ejection may reach several kilometers per second.
