In this paper, we present a method to automatically detect Emerging Flux Regions(EFRs) based on analysis of full-disk Halpha and MDI images. As the part of the detection program, we extract the properties of EFRs, such as location, flux, and size. In the first step, we apply image processing techniques to extract the bright components from Halpha images. In the second step, we investigate the corresponding areas in MDI images and measure the associated features, such as size, flux., mean and variance of pixel values. In the third step, we apply pattern regozization techniques to identify the EFRs based on the measured features. The method will be used to detect and trace EFR in real time.
