Within the framework of a long-term study of the large-scale structure of the universe, a study was conducted to compare the properties of homogeneity and isotropy for the distribution of quasars in the universe. Since examination of the entire sky was not possible, certain representative fields were chosen for comparison. Each field was surveyed with the aid of photographic plates to obtain the number of quasars per unit of surface and per unit of distance. Since the data obey a Poisson distribution, it is necessary to analyze a large number of plates to obtain significant information. The GRENS project analyzed 40 fields throughout the sky, and the present thesis undertakes the comparison of the characteristics of three photographic plates from field F at a galactic latitude of -45 deg. These plates are digitized and treated by various software in the GRENS unit, and data obtained on quasar distribution are then compared to those in other fields using standard statistical tests. The GRENS software used to process the photographic images, correct spectral data, and select candidates for identification as quasars is described. Results of data processing and comparison of the F1, F2, and F3 fields are presented. The results have not allowed detecting any anisotropy in the candidate quasars.
