Scientific paper

Austrian participation in rocket and balloon campaigns during the past decade is surveyed and results are summarized. Present rocket activities concentrate on particle spectrometry for magnetospheric research and study of the various sources and sinks of energy in the 80 to 130 km region. The balloon research emphasizes the study of magnetospheric dynamics. Future plans are presented, with emphasis on increased international cooperations.
