Auroral imagery is now considered an essential element of comprehensive investigations of the interaction between the Earth and the Sun. Ground- and space-based auroral imagery, with other supporting observations, are critical elements of the Heliophysics Great Observatory concept. Space-based images complement global data products built from networks of ground-based radars, all-sky imagers, magnetometers, and riometers. All of these data sources are increasingly being used in concert to study truly global (magnetosphere-ionosphere- thermosphere) phenomena. Global investigations of this nature require successfully working with multiple data sets from different regions with different temporal and spatial scales, different energy regimes, etc. Integration and analysis of information from such data sources can be both a scientific and technical challenge. This paper will give an overview of scientific investigations using multiple auroral data sets, (ground- and space- based imagers) from NASA's Heliophysics Great Observatory mission line and other supporting missions. It will discuss the success and challenges of working with multiple imager data sets as well as lessons learned from users and data providers.
