A previous work (Petrini and Tully, 1991) presented a particular feature of the Auger process following K-ionization of atomic B-like ions or 1s-2p excitation of Be-like ions, i.e., the overwhelming population of 2p excited final state. It was noted in that work that this selective production also concerns most of the 1s-hole states of light ions. In the present paper, this statement is confirmed after analysis of the Auger decay of Ne ions, with Ne(4+) chosen as an example of a light cosmic ion.
