Magnetic torquer attitude control of a spacecraft by using sliding mode control scheme is considered. Attitude controls to stabilize roll and yaw angles using a magnetic torquer switching control are obtained. Full nonlinear equations of motion for a rigid body spacecraft with constant speed momentum wheel and magnetic torquer are linearized with respect to its equilibrium point, which is normal operating point. Equations for roll and yaw motion are decoupled from those for pitch motion. The feasibility of control law by sliding mode control is demonstrated.
