For each IRAS survey and additional observation, one or more fine attitude calibration sequences were performed using a two axis star sensor of the V-slit type. These calibrations determined attitude errors for immediate use on-board and for subsequent attitude reconstruction on the ground. A special star catalogue was used to select the calibration sources. This paper describes the calibration sequences used to attain and maintain accurate attitude control and describes the techniques used for their preparation on the ground.
