The relay-race method, implemented on the RATAN-600 radio telescope, is considered as a possible technique for constructing two-dimensional images of the Sun and tracking the development of intense, rapidly varying sources. This technique uses a reduced aperture with a secondary reflector situated at the center or near the center of the telescope. In the relay-race mode with zoning the aperture increases due to an increase in the number of reflecting elements, distributed with shifts that are multiples of the wavelength over the optical path. As an example this method is used to construct solar maps on the basis of observations carried out on February 9 and 10, 1980 at the northern sector of RATAN-600.
