WE have tried to detect pulses of hard X-rays from the Crab Nebula at the same repetition rate as the radio1 and optical pulses2. Measurements3,4 of the angular diameter of the X-ray source do not preclude the possibility that a small fraction of the X-ray flux is emitted from the compact source required by the short length of the pulses.
