Scientific paper

We discuss a brief history of atmospheric neutrinos, from background to
proton decay searches to proving neutrino oscillations. We then discuss
how high statistics atmospheric neutrino measurements in the IceCube
Deep Core Array can provide useful information about neutrino
oscillation parameters and other neutrino properties.
