A surprisingly low intensity of Jovian Lyman alpha airglow observed by Pioneer 10 and results of the calculation on wave-induced eddy diffusion indicate an eddy diffusion coefficient kappa as high as 10 to 100 million sq cm/sec in the Jovian upper atmosphere. Strong hydrogen emissions found by Aerobee rockets may be Jovian auroras due to electron precipitation. The computation of wave-induced eddy diffusion on Venus results in an upper limit of kappa, which is compatible with our earlier estimate of 1 to 10 million sq cm/sec.
