We propose 3-mm observations of Sgr A* using the ATCA to continue our investigation of the intraday variability (IDV) in Sgr A*, the supermassive black hole at the Galactic Center. Our 3- & 2-mm Nobeyama Millimeter Array(NMA) monitoring of Sgr A* has revealed flares lasting from hours to months, including an IDV detection. ATCA would provide higher angular resolution, a longer observing window, and better calibrations, for tracking these flares. Our earlier 3-mm ATCA observation of Sgr A* on Oct 2005, June and Aug 2006 have demonstrated that the ATCA is very powerful in searching for IDV in Sgr A*. With the proposed new observations, we will be able to investigate not only the IDV properties in detail, but also the long-term variability as VLA did at cm-wavelengths. We will try to coordinate the 3-mm VLBA session (quasi-)simultaneously with the ATCA observations to look for correlated structural variations during flares; our combined efforts should supply complementary constraints on Sgr A* radio source emission models.
