We propose 6cm observations of the spectacular, giant ring-like radio emission in the outskirts of the merging, rich galaxy cluster, Abell3376 (redshift=0.046, decl=-40). The discovery of these Mpc size nonthermal radio emitting structures at 1.4 GHz have been reported (Bagchi et al. 2006). We have also observed it from GMRT150&240MHz. The primary goal of the present proposal is to obtain a detailed map at 6cm and determine spectral index distribution across these relics (combining with our earlier data). An estimate of the spectral index will lead to an estimate of the spectral age of these relics, as well as possible detection of high frequency spectral steepening from energy loss, which can then be connected to various other dynamical, particle acceleration and radiative timescales in the cluster. This can be used to test major models, such as the diffusive shock acceleration and adiabatic shock compression mechanisms, proposed to explain the relics. This will be the first detailed 6cm radio map of these relics in Abell3376. Alongwith our recent ATCA observations of the "bullet" cluster, these observations will be used to study radio halos and relics and their association with cluster mergers.
