We propose a follow-up of the Australia Telescope 20 GHz (AT20G) survey candidates in the declination range -30 < Dec < -15 in order to characterise (a) the high-frequency source population; (b) improve radio source spectral evolution models; (c) quantify the discrete source contribution to the CMB anisotropies; (d) provide a complete list of high-frequency calibrators. In the coming term we ask for time to confirm a list of 2000 candidates from the upcoming 2006 Aug/Sept survey campaign. This will complete follow-up observations for 75% of the southern sky. The final survey is expected to cover all the southern sky and detect about 10000 sources, being 100% complete down to S(20GHz) = 60 mJy.
