A method for the solution of the field-reconnection problem in the MHD approximation is developed which is based on the use of frozen-in coordinates. The problem is solved for a compressible plasma in the two-dimensional case, the method of solution making it possible to obtain an approximation with respect to the Mach-Alfven number to arbitrary order of perturbation theory. The problem is assumed to be asymmetric, i.e., the parameters of the plasma and the magnetic field are assumed to be dissimilar on different sides of the current sheet. Formulas necessary to obtain the solution are derived.
