A second-order asymptotic theory developed for the high-frequency acoustic oscillations of a star is presented. The theory is intended for a wide range of low- and intermediate-degree modes, taking into account the effects of gravity perturbation. The equation for the eigenfrequencies is obtained in a form convenient for use in solving the helioseismological inverse problem.
