The paper describes a method for determining the rotation of galaxies viewed from the edge: the method is based on the fact that absorbing matter in spiral galaxies has the tendency to be concentrated along the convex sides of the spiral branches, leading to the observation of the asymmetry image 'halves' on both sides of the nucleus. The application of this method to determining the direction of rotation of the Galaxy indicates that the rotation of the Galactic spirals has a lagging character. It is concluded that the examined method is an effective one for investigating the rotation of galaxies viewed from the edge.
