The radio nuclei of NGC 1275 (3C 84) and 3C 345 have been mapped at 22.2 GHz with a resolution of ≡0.4 milli-arcsec. The map of 3C 84 shows an asymmetric one-sided structure extending southward from a very compact component, identified with the center of activity. This one-sided structure is embedded in a larger scale (30arcsec) symmetric structure. The very compact component is elongated east-west, perpendicular to the long axis of the source, and this component is tentatively identified with a torus or accretion disk associated with the central engine. The map of 3C 345 shows an extension in position angle -130°, i.e., markedly different to the position angle observed at 10.7 GHz. The curvature in the one-sided jet of 3C 345 is much more pronounced than was previously thought and decreases sharply with distance from the nucleus. The hybrid maps were made by a new mapping method, applicable to observations at high frequencies, which uses both closure phases and closure amplitudes. These are the first reliable continuum aperture synthesis VLBI maps to be made at 22.2 GHz.
