It is argued that astrophysics, being an observational rather than an experimental science, provides a lot of recent, easily accessible examples of the scientific process. Astrophysical examples can show science as a human activity and provide a better understanding of the epistemological problems underlying all scientific activity, thereby providing a truer picture of the role of science in modern society.
