In this paper we analyze uvby and H-beta photometry of the Be/X-ray system X Persei, obtained during a recent phase in which the star lost the circumstellar material and reverted to a 'normal' O/B absorption-line star. We present the calibration of the fundamental astrophysical parameters, which are compatible with the spectral type O9.5 III previously determined. Comparison with evolutionary models gives a lower limit to the system age of 6 Myr.
