The asymptotic divergences of the astrophysical nuclear partition
function and mean excitation energy are eliminated by performing the
calculations in a finite spectroscopy space using the statistical
spectroscopy method. Results for Fe-56 and Ni-56 are presented and
compared with those of existing models.
