We will report on the first astrophysical measurement of the equation of state of neutron-star matter that is based on high accuracy
measurements of the radii and masses of three neutron stars. I will describe a formalism that maps these astrophysical observations directly to the pressure of cold, asymmetric matter at supranuclear densities. I will discuss the implications of the inferred equation of state for supernova calculations, gravitational wave signals, and the population of low-mass black holes in the Galaxy.
