Recent work on aspects of line shapes which are relevant to astrophyscial spectra are discussed, Namely (i) the impact broadening of strong resonance lines by atomic hydrogen, (ii) the effects on line profiles of collisional redistribution of radiation in the impact region and (iii) the influence of velocity changing collisions on impact region redistribution.
