Data obtained from high-energy laboratory findings on the cross sections and other parameters of pion production processes are examined for relevance to pion production in outer space. Inferences gained could be useful in gamma-ray astronomy, in analysis of nuclear processes at work in interstellar space, and in locating sources of gamma radiation and neutral pions or arriving at estimates of the amount of antimatter present in the environs of the local galaxy.
