Theoretical chellenges in astrophysics which will be met during the 1990s are discussed. These challenges include the elucidation of a coherent picture of the structure and evolution of a galaxy like the Milky Way, the development of a predictive theory of star formation, understanding the role of magnetic fields in the dynamics of the interstellar medium and in star formation, solving the solar neutrino problem, determining the frequency of SNe in galaxies of all types, the development of tools for the interpretation of galactic cores, and investigating the long-term dynamical stability of the solar system.
