The astronomy teaching in Armenia is described briefly from the elementary school up to the postgraduate education. The important role of professional astronomers in this process is stressed especially taking into account the forthcoming year of Astronomy 2009. Several suggestions are made to use this opportunity for improving the educational means and methods.
