Saint-Petersburg State University seems to be the only university in the world where the Astronomy belongs to the Mathematical department. The origin of this tradition is traced backward to the XVIII century. The description of astronomical educational activity of Astronomical Department in Saint-Petersburg State University is presented. This educational system was created many years ago, but due to modern up-grate it works rather successful. The historical review is given. The present system of education is shown. The general courses, specific programs and modern lectures, seminars and observations what a student is getting during 5-years educational program are described. The aim of the general courses is to describe the problems the astronomers met in various branches of modern astronomy. It is necessary to mention that background of all knowledge is of high level mathematics, programming and computer sciences. The faculty of the Astronomical Department is in charge to provide the general astronomical courses, whereas the special courses are provided mainly by leading scientists from astronomical institutions of Saint-Petersburg. Research is an integral part of the graduate program. The post graduate programs aiming at the award of the highest degrees (candidate and doctor of science) are described.
