This is the continuation of a project to strengthen the Southern Hemisphere astrometric reference frame through a) increasing the reference source density with bandwidth synthesis observations, and b) VLBI imaging at 8.4 GHz of a complete sample of compact, flat-spectrum sources south of declination -20 degrees. These observations are required to estimate the effect of source structure on positon, to investigate possible systematic errors in the reference frame positions, and to provide a strong tie between the Hemispheres through overlap of common sources.
