Since the success of optical interferometry in the last decade, astrometric precision and accuracy have been improved dramatically. The Mark III stellar interferometer could measure star positions with an accuracy of several milliarcsecs in global astrometry. Future ground-based infrared long-baseline interferometers, such as the Keck interferometer array, will have a potential of 10 μas in narrow angle astrometry. A space interferometer being designed and tested in the USA will reach an accuracy of micro- of submicro-arcsec. Such accurate astrometric data will bring a great contribution to astronomy.
