Positions of Miranda relative to Uranus are given for 1977, 1978, and 1979 oppositions from plates taken at the Pic-du-Midi with an innovative photographic method. The comparison of these new observations and recently published ones with the calculated positions derived from the nominal orbital elements shows a longitude variation with a period of 12.2 yr, very close to the circulation period of the near-commensurability between Miranda, Ariel, and Umbriel. These results combined with new observations over the next few years will make possible a revision of Whitaker and Greenberg's elements.
