We propose Long Baseline Array observations of the Galactic X-ray binary GX~339-4 to determine its proper motion. This system is located on the outskirts of the Galactic Bulge, several Galactic scale heights from the Plane. It exhibits frequent outbursts, unlike other transient low mass X-ray binary black holes, making it an ideal candidate for radio observations. Estimating its proper motion can help determine whether it formed in the Bulge or formed in the disc, with a strong velocity kick.
