The applications and limitations of several diameter determination methods are discussed with emphasis on the practical high-precision lunar occultation method which is proposed for use on the asteroid 4 Vesta. The method employs high-speed photometry; its advantages include immediate yield of a disk diameter and easy lunar occultation prediction. Other methods discussed include polarization and radiometric observation, star occultation, and speckle interferometry.
