Historical records of comets and meteor showers in the old chronicles from the Far East make it possible to search for genetic associations between these two types of events. A statistical analysis shows that from among the showers of so far unidentified origin, three or four were produced by parent comets observed at about the same time. Although a definite identification is impossible due to the lack of reliable orbital data, five possible to probable pairs can be specified: the comets and meteor showers of 461, 647, 684, 1063, and 1539. It seems that most of the parent comets had low inclinations and short revolution periods.
