We have performed a systematic analysis of the public ASCA X-ray observations of AGN. The products of this analysis, which will ultimately comprise several hundred objects, will be made available to the community by summer of 1999. The analysis has been fine-tuned to optimize extraction of images, light curves and spectra of faint sources and includes background spectra and light curves, which are not available in the products provided in the standard mission archive. This database will allow scientists without experience in X-ray data reduction to easily utilize the ASCA archival data. We also present our newest result based upon 79 datasets from Tartarus. Consideration of sources with the narrowest permitted lines introduces scatter into the established correlation between X-ray variability and luminosity. However, a very strong correlation is evident between X-ray variability and FWHM Hβ. Consideration of X-ray spectral index and variability properties together shows distinct groupings in parameter space for broad and narrow-line Seyfert 1 galaxies. Sources with steep spectra in the 2-10 keV band show a systematically higher degree of variability; flat indices are not observed in highly variable sources.
