X-Ray, Small And Compact Galaxy Groups
Scientific paper
We report on NGC 2300 Group of galaxies observed with ASCA in the performance verification (PV) phase. Extended diffuse X-ray emission surrounded this galaxy group, which is first reported by ROSAT observation, was confirmed with its total luminosity of 4×1043 erg s-1 in the 0.6-2.6 keV band. We also found that the temperature of this hot gas was 0.90+/-0.14 keV and its elemental abundance was 0.09+/-0.05 of the solar value in the 90% confidence, if we adopt the thermal emission model derived by Raymond and Smith.
