Scientific paper

A definition and the principles behind the construction of two-dimensional spiral galaxy models are given. The scientific applicability of these models is illustrated by examples. The modeling method is based on random distributions; random-generated pictures are compared with photographs of galaxies, and it is determined what phenomena can be accounted for by chance. Illustrations of the pictures are provided.
