Ariel 6 observed Cyg X-1 with enhanced low energy emission during June and July 1980. Fluctuations were studied on all time-scales down to 2 ms. Spectral and correlation measurements were consistent with models of Cyg X-1, which involved an accretion disk around a nonrotating black hole with Compton scattering of photons from a soft central source by hot electron gas producing the medium and high energy X-rays. The cross correlation of rapid fluctuations between two bands above and below 3.5 keV showed a small asymmetry with the high energy emission delay.
