The galactic center region was observed for a total of 18 days spread
over three successive years (1975-1977) by the high-energy X-ray
experiment on Ariel 5. A strong, hard flux was measured in the 26-560
keV range, some of which is consistent with emission from the galactic
nucleus itself.
