It is concluded that, so far, not a single comet coming from interstellar space has been observed. It is further concluded that the fact that the original orbits of a number of comets have been found to be hyperbolic is fully explainable by the observing uncertainty. In addition to the observing conditions, irregular physical processes in the individual comets are often responsible for an apparent hyperbolicity of their orbits. The impact of the observing conditions on the measurement and computing accuracy tends to make the number of new comets (in Oort's sense) substantially smaller, and the dispersion of their binding energies much broader than it actually is.
