The Unified Model, which is used to explain the differences between Seyfert galaxies of types 1 and 2, has been questioned in many recent works. Part of the observed discrepancies seen in the properties of AGN hosts, could be dependent on criteria used to select the sample. The need of an isotropic property to assure a fair selection procedure is imperative. Towards this goal, we examined the Luminosity and Morphology of Seyfert hosts in a magnitude limited sample of galaxies. We used the recently compiled catalog of Seyfert galaxies based on the spectroscopic exam of the Southern Sky Redshift Survey - SSRS2 database. The SSRS2 is limited at mB = 15.5 and contains 5399 galaxies of which 162 present Seyfert activity. We checked the hypothesis of the Unified Model for the morphological and luminosity distributions of the Seyferts type 1 and 2. The result for morphology distributions reveals that they are alike at 84% of confidence level. On the other hand, the luminosity distribution for those subsamples are considered different at 93% of confidence level, where Seyferts type 1 reside preferentially in intrinsically more luminous hosts. Although it is difficult to compute how much of the host total luminosity could have a contribution of the AGN, this is a tendency to be examined in more detail, since this luminosty difference impose difficulties to the Unified Model.
