We will use archival HST spectra of QSOs, BL Lac objects, and Seyfert galaxies to perform a systematic, unbiased survey for moderate-redshift damped LyAlpha absorption systems. This survey will complement and extend a similar survey that has been carried out using IUE. The primary goals of the HST survey are {1} to accurately determine statistical properties of moderate-redshift damped Ly-alpha absorption systems, including the rate of incidence, cosmological mass density, and column density distribution, and {2} to identify moderate- redshift damped Ly-alpha absorption systems for further detailed study.
