The geochemical inhomogeneity of the Archean mantle is studied. Sr-87/Sr-86 and Nd-143/Nd-144 ratios of carbonatites and related alkalic rocks intruded at different times into the Superior and Grenville Provinces of the Canadian Shield are analyzed. Sr and Nd evolution diagrams are presented; the behavior of Sr and Nd are examined using linear fit. The linear fit of the data implies that the Sr and Nd in alkalic complexes derived from uniform Rb/Sr and Sm/Nd ratios that existed from 2700-110 Myr ago. It is determined that the measured Sm/Nd ratio of the samples, which is low relative to bulk earth and the depleted mantle reservoir, pertains to the overall evolution of carbonatites. It is noted that the linear relation between the Nd-143/Nd-144 and time suggests that the low Sm/Nd ratio in the carbonatites must have occurred either shortly before or at the same time as the generation and evolution of the carbonatite magmas.
