Two samples of achondrite-eucrite from Vetluga are investigated by the (Ar-40)-(Ar-39) method using stepwise heating from 500 C to 1500 C. The samples are irradiated in a reactor with fast neutrons. The ages, calculated on the basis of the Ar-40/Ar-39 ratio, are 3.64 + or - 0.10 billion years and 3.54 + or - 0.15 billion years. These values are thought to correspond to shock metamorphism events. In addition, isotopic data are used to obtain the radiation age of the eucrite samples. The age (15-19 million years) is within an order of magnitude of the values obtained for previously investigated eucrites.
