Polarization - Radiative Transfer - Planets And Satellites: General
Scientific paper
The accuracies of the border approximation and the cubic polynomial approximation are tested for isotropically scattering vertically inhomogeneous atmospheres. Comparisons with exact results show that these approximations yield about the same accuracies for vertically homogeneous and inhomogeneous atmospheres. It is concluded that these approximations work equally well for isotropically and anisotropically scattering inhomogeneous atmospheres with or without polarization.
