Numerical and analytical solutions of the continuity equation for the daytime F2-layer are used to obtain explicit expressions for electron density and the height of the layer maximum as a function of composition, temperature, and velocity of the vertical plasma drift. It is shown that the derived expressions approximate the corresponding numerical solutions with an accuracy not below 5 km for the height of the maximum and 8 percent for electron density in the layer maximum.
